Pomegranate Peel Extract

The pomegranate (Punica granatum) is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub in the family Lythraceae, subfamily Punicoideae, that grows between 5 and 10 m (16 and 33 ft) tall.

The pomegranate ellagitannins, which include punicalagin isomers, are ellagitannins found in the sarcotestas, rind (peel), bark or heartwood of pomegranates (Punica granatum).

In this project, pomegranate peel was liquefied by water extraction method and then concentrated by evaporation method. The ellagic acid and punicalagin substances (antioxidant and antimicrobials) in the liquid form obtained was purified by the resin purification method. The purified liquid was turned into liquid and powder forms by evaporation and then spray drying methods.
